Luz was born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia, South America. Prior to law school, she attended college in New York, gaining her proficiency in English. Upon her return to Colombia, she worked for a multi-national corporation, graduated from law school and obtained a Master's Degree in Corporate Law.
Luz immigrated to Atlanta in 1996 just in time to enjoy the Olympic Games. At first she supported herself working in the import/export and purchasing fields. However her first love, the law, continued to call. She happened to see an article about a small, start-up law firm, defending the rights of immigrants which prompted her to become their first legal assistant. While helping the firm to grow, Luz also attended Kennesaw State University to obtain her paralegal degree. She has worked in the areas of immigration, family law, personal injury and litigation.
Luz is fluent in Spanish and English. She lives in Marietta with her husband and two dogs. While not working she enjoys the outdoors, music and the arts.
